Why is information collected?

The Cairns Eye & Laser Centre collects information only for specific reasons.

Most personal information is collected by health care providers as part of their diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Commonwealth and State governments may also legally require health care providers to collect information on particular health conditions such as life threatening diseases.

You are entitled to ask what information about you is being collected, why it is being collected and how it will be used.
Complaints Patients should feel free to discuss any concerns, questions or complaints about any issues related to the privacy of their personal information with their doctor.
